Forest2Coast Meander

The Forest2Coast Meander is a 4-night, 3-day walking experience in the renowned Knysna Forest region of Harkerville, midway between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

Discover the beauty of the Garden Route and its lush, forested countryside.

Two natural forest types occur in the Garden Route; the Southern Cape Afrotemperate Forest and Western Cape Milkwood Forest.

The trails in the Harkerville forests are abundantly laden with gorgeous vegetation, numerous trees and plant species including the white pear, Cape beech, yellowwood, and ironwood trees.

While walking the trails one will discover fascinating fungi and ferns, as well as beautiful mosses and ground cover on the floor of the forest.

The Harkerville area boasts a gorgeous rural ambience, thanks to the farms and the beautiful indigenous forests that are all around.

There are lovely streams running through the forests, which also go a long way in attracting many bird species, as well as insects and small mammals.

The forest walks provide one with the opportunity to simply be in a unique natural setting, where one can connect with nature through our sense of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. This enables walkers in the forest to open up their senses and begin to connect with nature. This is called “Forest Bathing” which means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses.
