The Atlantic Ocean is 18kms to the west and the nearest tarred road is 60km to the east. With only 19 houses it feels like time has stood still. Kotzesrus has no paved streets or pavements, no traffic lights nor stop signs and no streetlights. The night sky is an abundance of stars that leaves you breathless and spellbound.<\/p>\n<p>Nuwefonteinskop Lodge is nestled where Namaqualand\u2019s coastal Sandveld meets the rocky granite Hardeveld and is right in the centre of one of nature\u2019s most spectacular annual flower events.<\/p>\n<p>After the winter rains from May to July, the area is miraculously transformed from semi-desert to flower carpet as far as the eye can see. More than 3000 species start showing during August and September in Namaqualand.
